Hallo Hermione_Crookshanks I only want to congratulate you for your stories rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif . I really like them or better I love them.Your writting style is really great. The List is my favourite. It's so funny and cute and usally I don't like Ginny (my reason Hr/H 4 ever), but in that story she is great. so I would ask you something and I don't know how else I should do it exept how I am doing it now, so It would be great if I could translate the List into german so I could upload it to a german HP side (when is not done yet, is it???). Of course I would say it's only a translation and where the original is and that you are the original writer and so on and so on but it would be an honor for me so please answer me laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif .

ps. I'm really soory for my english, I know it's a disaster sweat.gif sweat.gif , but if you allow me to translate it I will have an betta who is much better in english then me so please allow it

Wow! I'd be absolutely honored. Yes, definitely. Just be sure, as you said, to link back to my main page and say that I wrote the original. And if you could post a link to the translation when you've finished, I'd really appreciate it!

And don't worry about your English. I studied French for five years, and I'd make any Francophone cringe. I couldn't understand a WORD that my French teacher said this year - after five years of study!!! I'd be lucky if I could write in French as well as you do in English.

Thanks again!! :-)

If you still happen to be there (the last reply was a little while ago), what are your opinions on crossovers? Which ones do you like/dislike? Also, if you were going to write a non-fanfiction story, what genre do you think it would be? And finally, if you are on ff.net, what is your penname? Thanks so much!
Wilbur

Edited to Add: er....I've been looking over reviews that I've left...I'm really sorry about that. I was 11 or so. Really sorry. I understand how stupid my reviews were now, and the pressure you were under. I can't really say anything now except sorry. If it makes you feel better, I'm sorely tempted to delete this account now and hide in my room for the next year.

Hi! Don't worry. I check this page at least once a week. ^_^ Anyway, I'm not too fond of crossovers. Most of the time they either mess with my ship (which I hate more than anything), the characters are terribly OOC, or it's just...weird. I hate with a passion any crossover involving Harry Potter. There have been a few exceptions to that rule. GaDS2000 wrote two AMAZING Jimmy Neutron/Kim Possible crossovers that I absolutely adored, but he is an amazing, amazing writer. He also did a slight Jimmy Neutron/HP crossover, though it was more JN characters in an HP modeled universe without the HP characters in it. And yes, I'm on ff.net. My penname is HermioneCrookshanks919. ^_^

My first non-fanfiction stories were all fantasy, but now I'm sticking to romantic comedies (chicklit, I suppose), because it really allows me to work with characters and dialogue. I'm currently turning The List into an original story, and I'm working on another.

God, please don't delete your account or hide in your room! I did so many stupid things when I was eleven, and what you did was definitely NOT bad.

Thanks so much for the questions! I had a blast answering them.

Hi HC. I hope things are going well and you are having fun with turning "The List" into an original story.

Have you ever considered writing in first-person perspective? What special challenges are there to writing that way? (Aside from having to infer with the character what other people are thinking.)

How much do you think what happens to you in real life effects what and how you write at the time?

I hope my questions are not too bothersome and I will be getting to your new story soon. thumbsup.gif

Your loyal fan,

bdrman

Hey! Nice to hear from you again. When I was younger, I actually only wrote in first person. As I learned more about writing and my own style, I realized that my work was stronger when written in the third person. With that in mind, my stories are often subjective rather than objective. Like Jane Austen's Emma, the events that take place are usually (though not always) subject to the protagonist's point of view, even though it is third person. Nonetheless, I do have three stories up here that are written in first person: What's Expected of Me, I'm Not Neurotic!< and Let Go. I just find third person stories easier to write. I think the most difficult and annoying thing about first person is that your perspective is limited. Take The List, for instance. There's no way I could've jumped to Ginny during Christmas Break, since Hermione wasn't there to witness what was taking place. I also feel first person gives me less with which to work. Like you said, one can only infer what the other character are thinking.

Oh, so, so much. Both I'm Not Neurotic! and The List! were based on either a discussion with my friends or my experiences. When I'm in a depression (so to speak), my stories tend to be rather angsty. Often my writing is just a way in which I work through my emotions.

My apologies if some of what I said didn't make sense. It's incredibly late and I had an unbelievably long day (you'd think that wouldn't be so in the summer, but nope, still stretched thin *laugh*). I hope all is going well with you (and I can't wait until you read my newest fic! I really want to hear what you think. I'm hesitant to update). biggrin.gif

Hello! Just wanted to say that I love your stories. You write fantastically!

Anyway, while I'm here, I might as well ask you some questions:

1) Which of your stories do you like the most?
2) Are you going to go into a career as an author? (You sooooooooooo should!)
3) Are you going to do another chapter of "10+ reasons" anytime soon?
4) Can you help me come up with more superlatives to describe your stories?

Hi! Thanks so much for all of your reviews. I'm reading them right now and just...wow. Thank you! I'm so, so happy and honored that you like my work.

Now, on to your questions...

1. Wow, that's a really difficult question. I love The List, because I feel it's my strongest novel, but I guess when you come down to it I'd say Insomnia. I know a lot of people dislike it because it has an uncertain ending, but I think that's what I love about it. Life is uncertain after all. This was also my first time using stream of consciousness, which has become one of my favorite writing styles.

2. I would love to be an author, but I really feel I'm not talented enough. I'm planning on taking some creative writing courses during college (which is in less than six months - wow!), so we'll see how I develop as a writer. If I did write books (for real), it wouldn't be until I was much older. First I want to become a lawyer, and once I'm married and have children I plan on becoming a teacher (or, if I'm lucky enough, staying home). I'd probably write on the side once I became a teacher, and if I stay home I will definitely write on the side.

3. I really, really, really want to update 10+ Reasons, but right now life is just too hectic. I'm finishing up high school, I have AP and Final exams to study for, I'm planning for prom, I'm planning for Beach Week, I'm trying to find a job, I'm applying for scholarships...it's just hectic. Once the summer arrives I hope to update it, and I'm sure once I see HBP (as much as I hated that book and will probably dislike the film) my drive will return. So don't give up looking for updates just yet!

4. LOL. I'm actually really horrible when it comes to synonyms (one of my weaknesses as a writer is, ironically, my vocabulary), so sadly I cannot. But thank you so much! That made me laugh out loud (literally) and smile.

Thanks so much for your questions!

  • Where do you get your inspiration?
  • How long does it usually take you to write a chapter?
  • Do you post your work on other sites besides HPFF?
  • Anything new coming soon?

I love your work. Especially I'm Not Neurotic. Hermione is my favorite character and I just love how you write her.

Hey, tinkerbell817! Thanks so much for your questions. Hopefully I can answer them properly.

1. My inspiration for my longer stories usually come from my own life. For example, I'm Not Neurotic was born during my freshman year of high school after all of my friends insisted that I was a) neurotic and b) that I should date this guy that I was sort of friends with (I don't think I ever told anyone about the latter part...), while The List was based off of the fact that in ninth and tenth grade everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, thought my best friend and I were either a) dating or b) should be dating. My one shots, on the other hand, are usually based off of a random idea that pops into my head late at night, usually a line or a title, and then I just go from there.

2. Writing a chapter can take me as little as an hour to as long as two or three months. The length of time usually depends on a) how interested I am in the story I'm writing, b) how my personal/school life is going, and c) if my muse wants me to write or not.

3. Yep! I've posted on several other sties, but my completed stories can also be found on fanfiction.net and portkey.org. :-)

4. At the moment I'm putting a pause on all writing projects. Unfortunately my grandfather passed away this Monday, and while he had been suffering from Parkinson's his death was still a complete shock, and it's something that I and the rest of my family are trying to come to terms with. I'll be spending the rest of the summer visiting my grandmother (who lives about two hours away) and preparing myself for my first year of college, so unless some miracle occurs I don't think I'll be writing for a while. I will try to finish up the next chapter of 10+ Reasons, but after that I really don't know what to expect. :-(

Thank you so, so much! It's so wonderful to know that people still enjoy my stories, especially my older ones such as Neurotic! I hope you're having a wonderful summer (or winter if you happen to be on the other hemisphere).
