Hello all!

I'm Dellacqua, I've been jaunting about the forum for a good few months now and started posting my first fic - a Next Gen Triwizard Tournament called Red Champion - a few months ago as well. Ever since I've contemplated opening a Meet the Author because I do love to answer questions, and I'd also love to chat to my reviewers more so than you can through reviews and responses.
So yes, I finally took the plunge!
I've loved writing so far and I've no doubt I will continue to love it, writing Next Gen is a great experience as is writing the Triwizard Tournament which I can only hope I am doing justice.
So please, ask me a question or two (even three or four) about my writing or anything really, I'm happy to talk

Afternoon! I am finally here with the replies to your lovely, lovely questions. Excuse the delay but as you know I am constantly behind in everything...ever.

1. How did you think of the first task, and how long did it take?

Blimey. Well before I even started writing the fic I thought about all three Tasks and wrote out what I wanted each of them to be. I then accidentally threw out the notebook that was written in So I then rewrote the First Task as I was starting the First chapter. The ideas for it...I literally have no idea where it came from. I always loved the ideas of having little challenges to overcome and collecting something from each – as you’ve said in a review like a scavenger hunt type thing. That idea always appealed so it formed from there. Overall it must have taken a few weeks to get it all planned out. I edited and rewrite things to death and this was no exception. The amount of challenges has changed from what they were originally, some of what the challenges are, the difficulty levels, the riddles. Everything has just about changed at some point to make it what it is now.

2. Do you have the other tasks planned yet?

I’ve got the Second Task planned, generally as soon as I write one I plan the next. As I said way back I did plan them all so every now and then I do remember part of what my original ideas were so I’m not starting completely from scratch. The Second Task however I did only start thinking about last night – I had it written before but as with the first I needed to change some elements of it to make it difficult enough and believable enough. No doubt when I actually come to write the chapter containing it, it will change all over again.

3. What is it about Red Champion that you are enjoying writing so much?

Well I always knew I wanted to write a fic with some romance but I didn’t want that to be the be all and end all of it. Including the TT means that I can play around with the romance and action/adventure genres putting emphasis on whichever I want to. My main purpose of the fic is to write something new, a twist on the usual Rose/Sco pairings about and a twist on the TT fics about. Hopefully people see the summary and think “I haven’t heard of something like that before” and that’s why they read it. As you know, I don’t like cliches so it’s fun to write purely because with each idea I had I twist it around to try and make is unpredictable.

4. Are you going to write other stories after Red Champion is complete? Marauders, perhaps?

You know me well! Well, I’m definitely going to carry on writing after I finish Red Champion, what it is as yet I don’t know. I have thought about it a lot recently. As I said with the last question I like to write something new – not necessarily anything bizarre or controversial – but just something with a bit of a twist on it which you don’t always get elsewhere. Hence using the Triwizard Tournament. If I did a Marauder era then I’d want the same to apply, I wouldn’t want it to fall into the same old Sirius/OC category, I like to mix things up a bit. So I’d definitely love to try it, whether with Marauders or another era, but rest assured whatever I do it’ll be a bit different.

2.) How do you feel about Scorpius/Lily II? I personally really like that ship, but can't really find a lot of stories about it.

I guess that's all I can think of for now... Other than keep up the awesome work on Red Champion. I'm a writer at heart, so a lot of times I have trouble keeping interest with fanfiction stories (wierd, huh?), but I look forward to all of your updates.

Hey Malvado Thank you for dropping by! And I know exactly what you mean, ever since I started writing I barely read fanfiction anymore - just a select few which I really like - before I became a writer I used to read masses.

1.) Do you think that Rose/Scorpius is so popular because it's basically Hermione/Draco 2.0?
Oooh, this is such a fantastic question! Well, I think in general, you can't really say they are different because it's the whole "forbidden love" Romeo and Juliet storyline. For me I think they're different. I'm not a big fan of Dramione I'll admit, purely because I have never liked Draco as a character (consequently - I have no idea why I like Scorpius ). He is one of those characters I never thought had any redeeming features and who I thought would be always bad and so I could never see it as realistic if he got together with Hermione.
Instead, despite what his father is like, Scorpius is a blank canvas as such. Some people show him as an entirely negative "bad boy" character and just like Draco was, others like me show him to be different, so different in fact it's almost like a reaction against how his father was and how he is expected to be.
So I don't think Rose/Sco is popular because it is basically the same as Dramione, I think the era helps Rose/Sco as well, Next Gen you can do a lot with and keep to canon. Whereas with Dramione obviously you're immediately going against canon which people don't always like. I think Rose/Scorpius has become popular in its own right.

2.) How do you feel about Scorpius/Lily II? I personally really like that ship, but can't really find a lot of stories about it.
It's funny you should ask actually because I've been trying to find some myself recently. I really enjoy Scorpius' character (characterised in certain ways) and of course I always liked him paired with Rose. However, since I've started my own - bizarrely enough - I don't like to read Sco/Rose anymore I guess because I've got so into my characters that whenever I read other portrayals they don't sit well with me. Because of that I wouldn't mind reading some Scorpius/Lily II, I've even considered going that way after my current fic is finished

Hi! So I keep seeing "Red Champion" everywhere and it's got such amazing reviews; I am planning on checking it out as soon as possible I thought I'd stop by with some questions:

1) Favorite ship?
2) Favorite character?
3) Favorite HP actor? (Personally, after seeing HBP, my alliance to Emma Watson has shifted to include Tom Felton He acted brilliantly, but mainly because he's gorgeous Rupert Grint was pretty good, too.)

Hey Jellyman! Thank you so much for all of the questions, you are amazing! Also, I’m so pleased you want to check out my story; it’s great to have people noticing the story about and wanting to read it and find out more!

1) Favorite ship?

It’s hard... Strangely my answer isn’t immediately Sco/Rose. I think because I’m writing it, it puts it in a separate category for me, because it’s always on my mind I wouldn’t like to actually read it. Instead, I think eternally I will love marauder pairings. I love Sirius/OC or Remus/OC seemingly depending on my mood. But also love the traditional “meant to be together” Lily/James pairing. Recently I’ve started reading Oliver Wood/OC fics as well, generally because they’re fun and laidback – a nice read in the summer


2) Favorite character?
Hmmmm... I love a young Remus in Marauder era, again I think this just stems from the fact that when I began reading fanfiction I started on Marauder era and I’ve always loved it since. I’ll always keep going back to those characters. I love James when he is characterised well, (as in “The Tale of Felix Felicis” speaking of which I need to go back to that, I think you’ve put up another 3 chapters since I last reviewed :O). Sirius I like to a lesser extent just because I think I have read a lot of fics on him now, I’ve seen so many representations of him which are invariably the same.



3)Favorite HP actor? (Personally, after seeing HBP, my alliance to Emma Watson has shifted to include Tom Felton He acted brilliantly, but mainly because he's gorgeous Rupert Grint was pretty good, too.)

My views are completely changed by HBP as well. The character of Draco I always hated, I thought he was just a pathetic little ratboy in the books and I never had any sympathy for him. Tom Felton’s portrayal well and truly changed that, he was absolutely fantastic. For the first time ever I really felt sympathy for Draco – it was really beautifully acted (especially the scene when Harry hexes him in the bathroom, I thought I was going to start properly sobbing in the cinema, I thought it was so upsetting! – also yes, he’s properly gorgeous ). I also liked Rupert Grint, I thought he was a lot better than he has been in the past. And I loved Luna, she’s entirely mad, I LOVED her line about the blood on his face,” personally I think you look more devil may care this way.”

4) If you could write something other than your Scorose story, what would it be?

This I have been thinking a lot about recently. Obviously after Red Champion I’ll definitely carry on writing, so I’ve been thinking about what I would actually like to write. I love the idea of Victoire/Teddy, I’ve read no fics on that pairing but I think it sounds like a lovely one. At the same time I’d probably like to move away from Next Gen as an era, otherwise any time any of the characters I have in Red Champion turned up I’d feel like I had to – and would be expected to – keep their personalities/characterisation/life stories the same. I like the idea of focus on a character from Hogwarts after they leave – not one of the three main. I’ve even considered Draco! But I’d love to write about Neville and what he does, or Luna.


5) Anything (pairing, event, etc.) you would change about the books, given the chance?

Oooh, this is such a good question. As I’m sure a lot of people would say I’d change the ending, it seemed a bit too happily ever after considering the fighting and the losses that were sustained. I would have preferred something saying what everyone went on to do after the war job-wise etc and how the society rebuilt itself, what happened to the old Voldemort supporters?


6) Anything you'd like JKR to write for you (like a next-gen story, Lily/James, etc.)?

Well I seem to remember JKR saying that if she ever continued the series, it would be a lot further down the line. So I would love her to write a Next gen book, however not about Albus, I think it would become too much like “another Harry”. As I said in the previous question, I would love a post-Hogwarts, I literally have never read that era in fanfiction bizarrely enough but I think so much could be done with it.


7) Any characters characterised in fanfiction that you see differently in your head (like Sirius Black/Draco Malfoy as a ladies' man, etc.)?

Hmm, I think there is such a variation on different characters out there that I’ve never really had a problem. Although as I said I do like the Marauders to be characterised correctly, all of them. Some – a lot of – M era fanfics focus on James or Sirius and have Remus as the boring bookwork and Peter as just plain evil. I don’t like that, I like them all to be three dimensional. Plus, Remus is so much more than that


8) Best story you've read on HPFF?

Probably Stag Night’s In My Time of Dying – she’s a fantastic writer. Everything is written exactly to perfection, it’s all spot on. It’s 100% canon compliant in Marauder era and the details included are fantastic, everything we learn later in the HP series you get foreshadowing for and previews as their early life nearing the war is explained. I think I like it because in a way it isn’t what I’d ordinarily read, I tend to search immediately for romance which this doesn’t have a lot of.

I never think of it as a fanfic, but as a Prequel to the HP books, it’s fantastic.


9) Strangest pairing you've seen? (I saw a Hermione/Scorpius this morning )

...Hermione/Scorpius...

Sorry, blimey. *shudder* doesn’t even cover it! Tbh anything like that, where you have an adult/parent and a Hogwarts student is completely weird to me. I’ve seen Sirius/Hermione about, eugh. Argh there was a totally outrageous one I saw before, Filch and somebody I think? There’s certainly some really strange ones out there that I just can’t understand why anybody would ever write them, who on earth would want to write Scorpius and Hermione? :O


10) To make a cool ten...favorite dessert?

I salute you for the perfect ten, I like a bit of organisation My favourite dessert is anything with copious amount of CHOCOLATE. Seriously I genuinely couldn’t live without it. I restaurant near me does this Chocolate mousse and cream which doesn’t sound particularly outstanding but trust me, it’s incredible!

1. Who is your favourite character in Red Champion and why?

4. Have any of your characters developed minds of their own and sort of resist your attempts to control them?
