Hey all! It's onestop_hpfan18 here, but you can just call me Leslie. I decided to delete my old Meet the Arthur thread and open up a fresh one. I'll start off by just telling you a few of the basic things about me.

I'm a college freshman at FCCJ--Kent Campus in Jacksonville, Florida. I'm planning on getting my A.S. in Paralegal Studies and my A.A. before transfering to FSU to get my bachlors' in English. From there, I plan to go on to attend Law School. My goal is to become a prosecutor and then move up to working as a defense attorney. Though, I don't think I'd be able to defend all criminals if they did something like kidnap a child and hurt them in any way. I just couldn't defend someone who hurt a child.

In my free time I enjoy writing, reading, I used to dance but I haven't danced for anything in a year(since I started college) because I decided I would focus on my first year of college before getting involved in anything, go to the beach, listen to music, hang with friends, and just have fun in general. I'm a laid-back person who is kind-hearted, thoughtful, loyal, and generous to others. Which is why I'm a Hufflepuff, heh. I fit in that house perfectly. Yep, yep.

I have 6 stories on the archive. 3 are onestops, 1 is a short story collection about the next gen. when they were little, 1 is a novel about the next gen.(Albus and co.'s adventures), and the last one is a James II/OC novella(it's my challenge fanfic). If you have any questions for me about my stories, writing habits, etc. then feel free to ask away. I'll try to answer all of your questions as best as I can.

Cheers,
Leslie

Hey there, _wizard11. Let me try to answer these questions as best as I can. Hmmm... teehee.gif .

1) I started reading Harry Potter back when I was in 5th grade (i'm in my first year of college now[about to start my third semester next week when the summer semester starts]). My reading teacher read SS/PS aloud to the class and I checked it out of the library and followed along in class, but I ended up finishing before she finished reading it to the class tongue.gif . I was instantly hooked.

2) Oooh, that's a toughie. I have so many favorites. But, if I had to choose, I'd have to say... Sirius Black. PoA was my favorite book before DH came out. I read my paperback copy of PoA so many times that anytime I pick it up and open it now, well, let's just say I have to be careful when handling it or else all the pages will fall out as the bind is that worn out! woot.gif LOL! But my favorite HP character to write from their PoV would have to be James Sirius Potter II as I have a James II/OC novella that I am currently writing and I absolutely love writing from James II's PoV.

3) Gosh, this is an even tougher question. I'm assuming you mean by this is what I took from one of my stories and learned from it. I guess I learned to go after what I want because normally I would just settle for whatever I got instead of pushing for what I truly want. This is because I'm a very laid-back person, but I learned that sometimes you just have to go for it and hope that you get it. wink.gif

Thanks for stopping by!
Leslie

EDIT: Oh, and I'd greatly appreciate it if you checked out my stories and left reviews as I thrive on feedback! -shamelessly points below in her siggy at the 'my stories' link-

hmm.. very nice replies.. and u seem to be a HP for a pretty long time.. i will surely check out ur stories.. and why would anyone feel shame to point out their work??

James II eh?? nice choice .. but that needs a lotta thinkin as u gotta think of all the plots by yourself and not pick up certain events!!

al d best with that..

and i will be back with more questions wink.gif

PS: I really dono how the educations system works in US . so i really dono wattu mean by third semester of college huh.gif

Hey Leslie!! I could have sworn I left you some questions before, did you get a new topic? huh.gif Haha anyway I am here as promised to pick your brain! lol

I've read "More Than Meets the Eyes" and am really enjoying it. Here are some questions related to this story:

1) Where did you come up with the inspiration for Marisol's character? Is she based on anybody close to you? And how did you come up with her name, I love it!

2) What made you decide to write a story in the Next Gen era?

3) How long do you plan on making this story? Have you written it all out, or do you write it as you go along?

And some random questions too:

1) If you went on a dating show and the three contestants were: Draco Malfoy, Argus Filch, and Charlie Weasley, what kind of a date would you go on with each of them? What would you guys do for fun?

2) If you had one hour to rob Gringotts Bank, how would you do it?

Haha I hope you enjoy these!

Hey Jules. Yeah, you left questions on my other Meet the Author. I decided to delete that one and make a fresh one as that one was from last year in august. And I was bored one day and decided I'd post a fresh one tongue.gif . Now, to answer these questions.

1) Ah, Marisol's character, well I got some of her from myself; the shy and stubborn parts tongue.gif . Also, some of insecurities are my own... like rejection for one. Then I took the rest of the traits from a few of my close friends that I still keep in touch with from high school.

As for her name, Hermione G gave me her name in the summery she owled me for her Summary Challenge and I decided to keep it because it is very pretty.
Edit// Though, I don't know where she got the idea for the name from, my guess is from the second Cheetah Girls movie on Disney Channel as one of the character's name is Marisol. Don't know her last name though, I think it's different. I only saw bits and pieces of the movie in between commercials of one of my shows on the CW.

2) I couldn't stop the plot bunny from hopping around my head with James Sirius Potter and an OC. And also I saw Hermione G's summary challenge and just had to take it. And voila, a story was born!

3) I haven't finished writing it, but I have a general idea of where I'm going to end it. It'll be less than 20 chapters, for that I'm sure. Maybe a few more chapters is what I've been thinking, and I've been thinking of how I'm going to end it a lot lately I continue to write. But who knows? I may write a sequel after this one... Though, it'll be a while before it's up after I've finished this one as I really need to focus on my other story.

And here are the answers to the random questions:

1) Draco Malfoy-- More than likely a nice itailian [is that spelled right?] restaurant and then afterwards a walk on the beach under a full moon. Cheesy and fluffy, I know, but I am the hopeless romantic type so give me a little credit. Besides, Tom Felton who plays Draco in the movies is very good looking... Yeah, so, carrying on.

Argus Filch-- [excuse me a moment while I laugh out loud... Okay, I'm done now.] I really can't picture going on a date with Filch. Maybe walking around the castle until Madam Pince sees us and chases after me having books hit my head every other second. laugh.gif LOL!

Charlie Weasley-- Now, I have always had a slight crush on Charlie from the books and I absolutely love reading Chalie/OC fics, though sadly there aren't many sad.gif . Anyway -cough-, back on topic, I can see us having a picnic somewhere in the mountains and then laying back on our backs looking up at the clouds/stars and just talking. Charlie strikes me as very laid back and the kind of guy that would take a girl out on a simple date in the countryside instead of to some posh restaurant. Which, that's fine by me because I love being outdoors as I used to go out to the woods with my dad a lot when I was younger with my younger sister and cousins.

2) One hour to rob Gringotts Bank, heh? Well, I never thought of this, that's for sure. But if I had only an hour to rob Gringotts than I'd map out a plan to do it, kind of like in Oceans 11 as that's one of my favorite movies [i didn't care much for the second and I didn't see the third]. I'd find a way into one of the vaults by hiding in one of the crates [if they even have crates to carry back gold and such like in Oceans 11 they had crates to carry back valuables to keep in the safe] and then I'd grab as much of the gold as I could. Then I'd blast a hole in the ceiling of the vault [before carrying out the plan I would have researched enough to develop a spell that could penetrate the sides/ceiling of the vault] and I'd climb out and use the plumbing [heheh, baslisk used the plumbing of the castle in CoS] and eventually exit out through a trapdoor leading back out of the bank and into Diagon Alley. Yeah, so I guess I didn't explain that very well, but just think Oceans 11 and you got it. I really liked that plan, even though George Clooney [can't think of the name of his character at the moment as I haven't seen that movie in quite some time] got busted.

Okay, so I'll stop my rambling here. Thanks for stopping by!
Leslie

onestop_hpfan18 I have some questions for you.

1) What is your favorite Harry Potter book?

2) Who is your favorite bad guy?

3) What is your favorite fantasy series besides Harry Potter?

4) What is your inspiration for all of your stories?

5) How do you get a beta? (I need one desperately)

6) Do you think you could review my most recent chapters? I threw in a bunch of new concepts in them, however, I have received little feed back so I don't know which one to focus on for chapter 12.

7) Good luck with school!

1) What is your favorite Harry Potter book?
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is my favorite. It was the third before the seventh came out, but the seventh is so much better with the action, etc. Plus, we find out everything that J.K.R. left us hanging with in the 7th book. biggrin.gif

2) Who is your favorite bad guy?
Hmm... favorite bad guy??? This is a tough one, but I guess Voldemort seeing as he has more power than any villain as he can just avada kedvra whomever gets on his nerves.

3) What is your favorite fantasy series besides Harry Potter?
I haven't read any other fantasy books, but I have been meaning to read Twilight. The problem is that every time I go to check it out of the library or to Walmart, there's no more copies of the first book. But now that I found out that my mom and sister have the books I'm going to borrow their books from them.

4) What is your inspiration for all of your stories?
It's usually a spur of the moment inspiration and it grows into a thirst for more and the creative juices just flow freely.

5) How do you get a beta? (I need one desperately)
here [12+] is the link to the beta thread in the help wanted forum. Good luck with your stories!

6) Do you think you could review my most recent chapters? I threw in a bunch of new concepts in them, however, I have received little feed back so I don't know which one to focus on for chapter 12.
I'll try to set aside some time to catch up with your story. I'm just very busy at the moment. It'll take some time, but you could always go to this [12+] part of the forums to request reviews from users that will be more than happy to review your story for you. Just make sure you read their rules so that you know your story compiles with their rules.

Cheers,
Leslie

Hey, thanks so much for all of the lovely reviews you just left for me! I promise to respond to them soon, and your stories are on my list of reviews-to-do.

Where did you get the inspiration for Holden's character?

How often do you write, and for how long?

Do you have any rituals that you do when preparing to read/write/review?

Looking forward to your next chapter of Behind the Mask! Love it!

Where did you get the inspiration for Holden's character?
I created Holden with a next gen. Sirius Black in mind (difference though is Holden is muggleborn, not pureblood like Sirius). But that didn't exactly mesh well with Holden as he wanted to be more down-to-earth and an all-around good guy that has had more friends that are girls than actual girlfriends. So, I guess you could say that Holden came to life immediately and dictated his own personality, giving me no room for suggestion tongue.gif

How often do you write, and for how long?
I try to write as much as I can, but that doesn't always work out with my schedule since I have classes 5 days a week this semester and I work part-time anyway from 3 to 4 days (usually 3). But when I do write I'll usually write anywhere from 20 minutes to a couple of hours, depending on how much time I have and how much inspiration strikes me while I'm looking over my outlines and such for a story.

Do you have any rituals that you do when preparing to read/write/review?
I usually listen to music that will best go with whatever I'm writing at the time to get into the current mood that the story is in at the moment. Though, I don't always listen to music while reading and reviewing as I try to keep as focused on the story I'm reading as I can so that I can give a well-thought out review. I usually will focus on things that I liked in the story, areas that need improvement, areas that are well-written, and any additional information that the authors ask me to look over. I try to make reviews as detailed as I can.

I'm glad that you're enjoying 'Behind the Mask' as I'm really having fun writing it. I just posted CH 7 'Discovered' two days ago on Thursday.

Thanks for stopping by!

Hi Leslie smile.gif

Now i know you're as excited about NaNo as i am... so i thought i'd ask you a couple of questions so i can get some inside info on your novel biggrin.gif

1. Do you think you'll reach the 50,000 word mark?
2. How long do you think your novel will end up being?
3. Who's your favourite character that you've planned so far?
4. What 3 things are you going to completely rely on during the upcoming month?
5. Which writing method do you think you'll be using (e.g 500-500-500, or other)
6. What do you think you'll get out of NaNoWriMo?

thanks smile.gif Good Luck!!

Hey Marina, nice of you stop by my MTA page biggrin.gif I'll answer these questions as best as I can.

1. Do you think you'll reach the 50,000 word mark?
I hope I reach the 50k word mark, I really want to. In fact, there's a part of me that wants to go past 50k words as I'm pretty sure my novel might very well have to end up being more than 50,000 words long.

2. How long do you think your novel will end up being?
At this moment I'm thinking it'll be at the very least around 75k to 90k as I have plenty of ideas.

3. Who's your favourite character that you've planned so far?
Hmm... I guess my main character, but that's only because I've only really thoroughly planned my main character, the other characters I've only skimmed over the surface some but I'm going to go back to them the next time I sit down to plan.

4. What 3 things are you going to completely rely on during the upcoming month?
The 3 things that I am going to rely on for the month of November, whoa, that's a tough one. But here goes...
- Iced lattes from Starbucks wink.gif
- My flash drive {my laptop has never crashed on me, but I am not going to take the chance as it is a year old now and has quite a bit documents stored on it}
- iTunes library

5. Which writing method do you think you'll be using (e.g 500-500-500, or other)
I've basically settled on the 500 method as that'll work best with my schedule. I can write 500 words the moment I wake up, I can write 500 words while eating lunch in between my classes, and I can write 500 words in two sessions later {one before dinner and the other before I go to bed}

6. What do you think you'll get out of NaNoWriMo?
I'm looking to get out of NaNoWriMo by proving to myself that I can, in fact, finish a novel length story. I've finished a novella, short-stories, and one-shots, but I really want to say that I've completed a novel now as I have yet to do so. I have yet to see a novel all the way to the ending and I feel this is my chance at finally proving that I can complete a novel.

Hope that answers your questions and thanks for stopping by!

Cheers,
Leslie

2. Where do you find the most insperation?
3. Where do you do the most writing? Certain time of day? Certain room?

Hey Caroline!

What is your favorite story that you have written? Why?
The favorite story that I have written would have to be 'Behind the Mask'. It's so much fun to write and seems to always flow right out without any trouble or blocks what-so-ever. Also, I like fairy tales, and have always wanted to write a sort of modern day fairy tale and this is the closest to it I've come so far.

Where do you find the most inspiration?
Hmm... probably in music. When I where a song that I really like I always think about the story behind the lyrics. I also get plot bunnies from dreams that I have because I'm quite the dreamer.

Where do you do the most writing? Certain time of day? Certain room?
I typically write in the afternoon, though when my time is limited and I can't write during the day then I'll write late at night before I go to bed. I typically will write in my bedroom, but I have on occasion taken my laptop to the park and wrote there when I needed the fresh air. I also write while I'm sitting out on my balcony.
