Mistress -- Thanks for visiting! I actually just finished reading the latest chapter of
Breaking the Quidditch Code - excellent, as per usual! It never fails to inspire me.

I'm hoping to get around to reading some of your other stories as well.
Do you have a particular writing ritual? Something you must have with you or must do?I feel a little weird, because I imagine most writers have a "ritual," and I just can't think of any that I have! For one thing, though, I have a hard time writing or working in complete silence. I must have some kind of background distraction, which usually comes in the form of mindless movies that I've watched over and over already. (Currently watching:
Casablanca) And I almost always have to have an Internet connection, so I can goof off when I hit a wall, look up information I need, or find things that inspire me. It also doesn't hurt to have my faithful cat around, so I can bounce ideas off of her. [as everyone looks at me like I'm a lunatic...

If you could write anywhere, where would it be?
I have always wanted to visit Ireland, and I imagine that if I ever get the chance, I will try to do a fair amount of writing there. Aside from that, I love places that are coastal and beachy and tropical. I would love to write in a place like that, even if it were just Hawaii - or any of the Pacific Islands, or somewhere similar. Somewhere comfortable with a great ocean view. And where I could get a darn good drink with an umbrella in it. Can't find much better inspiration than a tropical cocktail!
Who do you think is the best character you've written? What about the worst?Best character...a few come to mind (I guess that's a good thing!) I wrote a one-shot once about Percy remembering Fred, and I got some great feedback about how I did Percy. Looking back, I think I did a good job, too. Having always been a driven, ambitious person my whole life, and very obsessed with academics, I could relate to Percy as far as that was concerned, and I'm also very family-oriented, so I was able to throw some of that in there to try to give him some newfound appreciation for his family. And I think it worked out pretty well. I liked taking on a character that is relatively neglected in the world of fanfiction (though lately I've started seeing more Percy stories popping up, which is cool).
And right now, I'm writing a Fred II story, which hasn't been posted yet because I have a few things ahead of it that I want validated first, but I think I'm doing a fairly good job with him. It's a lot of fun, because he's such a blank slate, and I'm trying to give him an interesting personality. Honestly, if I do
half as well with him as you've done with James II in
Breaking the Quidditch Code, I'll be extremely happy.

But I'm experimenting with making him into a guy who's very funny, albeit in a different way than his father (more of a dry, nonphysical sense of humor); who loves reading and reveres his Aunt Hermione; who is slightly embarrassed by the aggregate fame of all his family members; and who has two cats whom he dearly loves (making him the twenty-something male equivalent of a crazy cat-lady).
Worst character...hmm...out of everything I've done, I'd probably say Lily Evans/Potter, because in everything in which I've written her (a few one-shots, basically) I haven't given her character much depth. She's either a device for showcasing Snape's angst or James' hilarity. I don't mind too much, because in the stories I've done about her, her depth of character is not totally integral to the fic as a whole, for various reasons. I think Lily is hard to do because she's been done zillions of times, and it's hard to find a refreshing take on her.
And right now, in the Fred II story I just mentioned, I'm writing an OC female character named Tabitha - you might think of her as the Avery to your James.

She's a lot of fun - I'm just hoping she'll turn out well. I don't think she's becoming a Mary Sue, but I can definitely see her being labeled a cliche (best female friend of the leading guy, you know?) - so I'm trying to avoid that as much as possible.

Annachie -- You mean my story that just posted today? Haha, sorry about that! I was so glad it just got validated, so I could finally put in my May Staff Challenge piece. I have a total backlog of stories and chapters waiting to be put in the queue...I did a ton of writing, so I'll hopefully be putting out a steady stream of updates!
