Not what he expected by secrets_revealed

The sky was turning dark as Shane walked towards the door for what felt like the millionth time that night. He hated Halloween, he was 16 and so were his mates but they still thought it would be fun to get dressed up and go out trick or treating; they acted about 6 never mind 16. Since his parents had went out about an hour ago he had been left in charge of handing out the candy to the little brats that came knocking. Sighing he pushed his hair back and opened the door but it wasn't what he was expecting. A tall brunette was dressed up as a devil, but not your average devil. She was wearing a short red dress with horns and a pitchfork in her hand.

“Trick or treat!” She smiled up at him and he forced himself to look away and pick up the bowl of candy. Holding it out to her, he tried to avoid her gaze but had little success. Her eyes were a deep brown and Shane couldn't stop the smile that stretched across his face as she reached in to the bowl take some candy. “Thanks, how come you aren't out trick or treating?” She asked him as she put the candy into a pumpkin shaped bucket.

“Me? No thanks, Halloween is for ki-” he started to sneer before he realised what he was saying but it was too late, the damage was done. Her eyebrows were raised and her hands were now folded across her chest, an amused smirk on her face.

“For kids? And to think I actually thought you looked like fun, guess I was wrong.” She sighed dramatically and I couldn't help but laugh a little, I slightly regretted it when her amused smirk turned into a frown. “Something funny?”

“No, absolutely not. What would be funny?” He shook his head rapidly, his head stooped so that she wouldn't she the smirk that was dancing on his lips.

“Oh, I see. You think I'm just some idiot who dresses up on Halloween like a kid, maybe you should try a bit of fun?” She shot at him, her voice was laced with sarcasm and he couldn't help but notice how pretty she looked when she was annoyed.

“You said it,” he muttered quietly and she just looked at him; her mouth opened, presumably to shoot some smart alec reply at him but he quickly spoke up before she could. “I do have fun, maybe you should try having actual fun instead of walking the streets in the freezing cold dressed as a devil and what for? A few measly bits of candy, yeah great fun.”

“Well why don't you show me how to have fun, since clearly you're some sort of expert on that and I know nothing,” her tone was challenging and he wasn't one to lose.

“What's it worth?” He wasn't about to do this for nothing and as he leaned back to lean on the door her position changed and she lent forward just a little bit, she was intrigued.

“Well, since it's Halloween if I win and you can't show me a fun time then you have to dress up as a vampire and walk around the city centre handing out leaflets all about Halloween and if you do show me more fun then I can show you then...”

“...you have to dress up as a vampire but go to the cinema in the costume.” Shane quickly injected, if she could pick his forfeit then he was certainly picking hers.

“Deal!” She exclaimed sticking out her hand for him to shake which he gladly accepted.

“Ok, well for my turn I will meet you in the town centre at 12 noon for an afternoon filled with fun, wear comfy clothing.” He told her, a plan already formulating in his mind; there was no way he was going to lose this, especially not to a girl.

“Great, Ill see you there and thanks for the candy,” she laughed turning away but she had only taken about two steps when she stopped and turned back to face him. “What's your name by the way?” She asked, she didn't know the first thing about him.

“Shane, and yours is?”

“Jessica” she replied before nodding at him and walking up his drive .Shutting the door he walked back into the living room and flopped down onto the sofa- maybe Halloween wasn't so bad after all.
